What are your hours?
My hours vary day by day. I offer a variety of time slots that range from morning and afternoon, to evening availability. Currently my practice is open from Monday-Thursday. I will return all phone calls and emails during those days. Please allow for 24-48 hours to return your phone call or email. If your phone call/email is urgent, please list it as such.
Do you accept insurance?
At this time I do accept one insurance: Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO. For all other insurances, I will gladly provide you with a Superbill receipt document that contains your diagnosis, amount paid, type of service and other codes needed to file with your insurance company for out of network benefits. It is up to you to contact your insurance company ahead of time to determine if they accept out of network benefits.
What happens when I use my insurance information?
Using your insurance could impact you in the following ways. When using your insurance, your counselor is required to make a diagnosis to file with the company. This could in turn, follow your medical record. Some insurance companies only allow a certain number of sessions, making it difficult to complete the counseling process. In turn, sometimes various services are not covered by insurance including telephone/web therapy, couples counseling, group counseling and family counseling. Lastly, your counselor is required to identify the individual client, (identified patient) where there will be a treatment plan and goals identified specifically for that client.
What are your qualifications?
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor in the State of Texas as well as a National Certified Counselor. As a supervisor, I will at times have practicum students or supervisees intern at my office. In turn, I supervise them and provide a safe place for them to gain knowledge and manage their hours and experience. I also hold the following certifications: Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), Certified Grief Recovery Specialist (CGRS), Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional (CCFP), Cognitive Behavior Therapy Certified (CBTC) and Distance Certified Counselor (DCC). I have gained experience in a variety of atmospheres, including domestic violence/sexual assault women's center, outpatient treatment centers, partial hospitalization and inpatient hospital settings, career center, and college counseling center, in addition to private practice. I currently teach at Sam Houston State University in the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology and have taught at Lone Star College in the past.
What is your cancellation policy?
As a client, you have the option of having a 48 hour reminder for your appointment in the format of a text, email, or phone call. If you decide to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please do so 24 hours prior to your appointment time, otherwise you will be charged a $75.00 cancellation/no show fee by using your credit card on file. Please contact your counselor ahead of time by phone call to cancel/reschedule your appointment.
Why is a credit card required to be on file?
A credit card/debit card must be on file for all appointments and must be updated periodically. This secures yours appointment time slot and makes payment a lot simpler at the end of your session.
